We will be leaders in beginning discussions to create a nationwide level of wellness standards for law enforcement that departments can then use as a starting point to implement what is best for their individual departments. No matter where an officer goes or what city a citizen resides in, they know that our law enforcement personnel receive wellness care for their health, finance, career, and overall well being.
Departments know their own people best, so they should decide what is most needed, starting from a baseline and adding as appropriate. Personalizing the programs makes them more effective and increases participation.
Line-level officers should have a voice in what is important as they are aware of where they struggle most. Success comes from truly assisting employees not in checking a box that a program exists.
